Vince Gargiulo (Historian / Consultant)
Vince Gargiulo is a born-and-raised Bergen County resident. He grew up in Cliffside Park, just a short distance from the famed Palisades Amusement Park. As the founder and executive director of the Palisades Amusement Park Historical Society, Vince Gargiulo began the extensive research of the New Jersey resort in 1991. With the cooperation of hundreds of residents, employees, and executives of the Park, Mr. Gargiulo has compiled the most comprehensive history of the Park ever written, Palisades Amusement Park: A Century of Fond Memories. The book was published in 1995 by Rutgers University Press and became the fastest selling book in the publisher’s history.
In 1998, he wrote and co-produced the PBS documentary, Palisades Amusement Park: A Century of Fond Memories for public television. The film was narrated by Ken Burns and featured interviews with Buddy Hackett, Walter Cronkite, Soupy Sales, John Sebastian, Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon and many more.
Mr. Gargiulo was a contributing author to the Rutgers University Press publication The Encyclopedia of New Jersey. This comprehensive history of the Garden State was published in 2004.
In 2005, Mr. Gargiulo published his second Palisades Amusement Park book with Arcadia Publishing as part of their Postcard History series.Since 1995, Vince has been traveling New Jersey speaking about the famed amusement center.
Vince is the webmaster for www.palisadespark.com, where the Park’s memories are kept alive for future generations.

National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (New York Chapter): PBS documentary, Palisades Amusement Park nominated for an Emmy (1997-1998 New York Emmy Awards) for Outstanding Historical/Cultural Programming.
International Television and Video Association: 1998 ITVA Gold Award for the production of the PBS documentary, Palisades Amusement Park.
Telly Awards, New York, NY: 1999 Telly Award for "Best Cultural Cable /TV Program" as Producer and Writer of the PBS documentary.
Proclamation; Mayor & Council of Fort Lee, NJ: Honoring “the work of Vince Gargiulo and PBS for sustaining Fort Lee’s past and enriching the lives of future generations.” – March 12, 1998.
2008 Historic Preservation Commendation Award: Presented to Vince Gargiulo by the Bergen County Board of Chosen Freeholders “in recognition of an appreciation for exemplary contribution to historic preservation in Bergen County in the category of Preservation Leadership.”
